Mercer adds Bradley after losing Western Carolina
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – This weekend's Southern Conference baseball series between Western Carolina and Mercer in Macon, Ga., has been postponed due to positive COVID tests and quarantine requirements within Western Carolina's program. The game would have been the conference-opening series for both teams.
Instead, Mercer will now take on Bradley in a three-game set at OrthoGeorgia Park. The Braves and Bears will play a three-game set starting at 6 p.m. Friday night. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday at OrthoGeorgia Park.
Â
Bradley enters the weekend against the Bears with a 5-4 record and lost their most recent game on March 14, 9-8, to Alabama State. The Braves are a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and were picked to finish fifth in in the league.
Â
The two programs have met six times in school history but have not met since the 2017 season. The squads were scheduled to meet in 2020, but the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
Tickets for the three-game set can be purchased by clicking here. Tickets that were purchased for the Western Carolina series will be good for this weekend's series.
