Mercer enters the AFCA Coaches’ Top 25
WACO, Texas – After joining the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Monday, the Mercer football team joined the American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches' Spring Top 25 Poll, on Tuesday. Â

The Bears (5-5, 5-2 SoCon) are currently on a four-game winning streak, with the last three victories coming against ranked opponents. The Bears started the winning streak with a win over Western Carolina before defeating then-No. 9 Chattanooga, 35-28. The winning continued with a victory over then-No. 17 Furman, 26-14. The third win over a ranked foe came this past Saturday when the Bears topped then-No. 20 ETSU, 21-13.

The three wins over ranked teams are the most in a single season for Mercer.

Mercer looks to continue its winning ways this Saturday when it heads Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford at Seibert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET. With a win and a VMI loss on Saturday, the Bears will be Southern Conference champions.
