Strong Second Round Sees Bears in Second Place

Lauren Lightfritz sits atop the leaderboard at 1-under par

MACON, Ga. – A tournament-low 292 second round has the Mercer women's golf team in second place after two rounds at the Brickyard Collegiate on Monday from the Brickyard Country Club.

Lauren Lightfritz was the most consistent player in the field on the day, carding a 1-under par to hold the individual lead heading into the final round. The Suwanee, Ga., native is one of two Bears in the top-five after the first two rounds as Laila Hrindova's 2-over par puts her in fifth place.

"I'm really proud of how the team bounced back in the second round," said head coach Michele Drinkard. "The girls stayed cool under pressure and did a great job handling adversity. We're excited to get back out and compete tomorrow in our final preparations for the postseason."
