Mercer Placed 48 on 2021 Fall Academic All-SoCon Honor Roll

Bears tally third most academic All-SoCon selections in conference
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Mercer University placed 48 student-athletes on the 2021 Fall Academic All-Southern Conference Team, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

The Bears' 48 selections ranked third among all SoCon schools. Five of Mercer's six fall athletic programs had at least five student-athletes on the academic all-conference team, led by football's 16 selections. Women's soccer (12), men's soccer (7), volleyball (6), men's cross country (5), and women's cross country (2) rounded out Mercer's honorees. Five Bears maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA: Barron King (football), Liam Coxhead (men's soccer), Michael Ille (men's soccer), Logan Longo (men's soccer), and Ally Fordham (women's soccer).

To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the fall semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
