MACON, Ga. – Fred Payton set a Mercer school record with five passing touchdowns in the win over ETSU.

Payton previously owned a share for the most passing touchdowns in program history with four, which he accomplished in the season opener against Morehead State.

Payton threw four of his five touchdown passes in the first half. For the season, Payton's 21 passing touchdowns are the most in the SoCon and fourth most in the FCS.

Payton is second in the SoCon with 259.4 passing yards per game. He leads the conference and is third in the FCS in passing efficiency with a 187.8 rating.
This week, Mercer travels to No. 9Â Chattanooga for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. Both teams enter the game undefeated in conference play.
