Kelley Named a Finalist for NCBWA Top Stopper Award

Relief pitcher named among Division I's best 10
MACON, Ga.  – Junior relief pitcher Jackson Kelley has been named a finalist for the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award. The award has been annually given to the top reliever annually since 2005.

The Marietta, Georgia, native notched a 7-0 record with six saves and a 1.35 ERA – that led the Southern Conference and was second best in Division I - in 25 appearances this past season.

Kelley pitched the Bears to a win in the SoCon Tournament over The Citadel behind seven strikeouts in a season-best 7.1 shutout innings. Following the event, he was named to the All-Tournament Team as the relief pitcher.

Following the regular season, he was named to the First Team All-SoCon by the coaches and Second Team by the conference's media. Additionally, he was the lone SoCon student-athlete to be named a finalist for the honor.

The Stopper of the Year recipient will be announced via a news conference on Friday, June 17, at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
