
Harper Named to East-West Shrine Bowl 1000

Honors include players across four divisions
MACON, Ga. – Devron Harper was selected as one of the top 1,000 all-star game eligibile players by the East-West Shrine Bowl.
The senior wide receiver made 24 receptions which accounted for 393 yards in the 2021 season. In a thrilling 45-42 win over Samford, he tallied single-game-bests in receptions (6) and receiving yards (76) against the Bulldogs. The Conyers, Georgia, product hauled in a 60-yard touchdown reception in the matchup with the FBS's top-ranked Alabama.
On the ground, he ran for 74 yards on five carries. He found the endzone for a rushing score on a 25-yard dash in the season-opening win over Point.
The Shrine Bowl 1,000 is a comprehensive list of the top-1,000 all-star game eligible players at the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA level. Every year, about 1,000 all-star game eligible players are drafted, signed after the draft, or attend a rookie mini-camp, and the Shrine Bowl's aim is for the Shrine Bowl 1,000 to serve as a look into the scouting process and begin to preview players from schools who are all-star game eligible who may be invited to the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl and 2023 NFL Draft class.

The Bears have found themselves ranked by three different publications ahead of the 2022 campaign. College Football Network tabbed Mercer at No. 16, Athlon Sports has the Bears at No. 17 and Bluebloods placed MU at No. 18.

Mercer opens the 2022 slate with Morehead State on Aug. 27. Kickoff from Five Star Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
