
Golfer Jonsson Represents Mercer On World Stage

Playing for Sweden in World Amateur Team Championships
Macon, Ga—Mercer golfer Tobias Jonsson is taking part in the International Golf Federation (IGF) World Team Amateur Championships in Paris. Â
Jonsson, a junior, is playing for his native Sweden in the team event. He is one of the three members of Team Sweden. There are 72 countries competing for the Eisenhower Trophy, presented to the winning team. The IGF holds the World Team Amateur Championships every two years.Â
Jonsson from Huddinge, Sweden is the first Bear to compete for the Eisenhower Trophy. In his first round, he shot a five-under 67 which had him tied for sixth place out of 216 golfers. The 72-hole tournament concludes Saturday Sept. 2.Â
The tournament is taking place at Le Golf National in Paris, which was the site of the 2018 Ryder Cup. Â
