Women Golfers Wrap Up At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship

Rodriguez, Pyon Low Score In Final Round
Knoxville, Tenn.—Senior Tracy Rodriguez and graduate student Carol Pyon had the low scores of the day for the Mercer women's golf team, in the third round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. on Tuesday.
Rodriguez and Pyon each had a five-over par 76 on the par 71 course. The other two Bears who counted in Tuesday's team total were Camilla Järvelä and Mikayla Dubnik, who each shot 78. Mercer's 308 total for the round, gave the Bears a tournament total of 904, 52 over par.
Kate Song, whose 79 on Tuesday didn't figure in the Bears' total for the day, was still the low Mercer player for the 54-hole tournament. Song's nine-over 222, tied her for 47th place. Järvelä finished at 225 (+12 tied for 59th); Rodriguez and Pyon tied in the tournament at 231 (+18 tied for 67th); and Dubnik finished at 234 (+21 tied for 72nd).
Tunrada Piddon of Central Florida was the low individual for the tournament with an 11-under 202. Wake Forest won the team total in the 14-team event at 21-under par. The Demon Deacons were one of only four teams to finish below par in the tournament. UCF (-18), Virginia (-16), and Kent State (-3) were the other three teams below par.
The Bears will next tee it up in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Vail, Colorado, Sept. 26-28.
