Mercer to Attend the Live in Lou XC Classic

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer cross country teams will travel to the 21st Annual Live in Lou Cross Country Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

"This is a trip we have been looking forward to all season to give us a taste of more of our conference competition along with some national caliber programs," Bears' coach Josh Hayman said. "This opportunity marks the transition into the back half of our season and preparing for the bigger championship races to come. We are ready to take advantage of a great opportunity."
The Bears opened their season at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, N.C. on September 2nd. The men came home seventh overall, and the women finished 10th in a stacked field.
Mercer then hosted the Mercer-MGA-Julius Johnson Invitational on Sept. 16. Both the men's and women's teams finished second overall with 48 and 42 points respectively.
The ladies averaged 19:40, a time which was faster than the trip to Covered Bridge Open. The women's team was led by Brianna Teegarden who was behind her best time of 19:08 by .03 seconds.
The men cruised to a new program best average time of 26:14 out at Georgia Premier, over 50 seconds faster than the previous best mark. The team was led by Joshua Kraver who finished with a 25:38.52 time and fourth overall. Vladimir Zander-Velloso was close behind with a 25:58.98 time.
