Men’s Golf Sits at 8th at Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational

ERIE, COLO. – Tobias Jonsson closed out day one in the mountains of Colorado with a 3-under-par 68 to be tied in 1st place on the individual leaderboard and helped Mercer men's golf team maintain 8th place following round 1 and 2.
The Bears (-1) combined for a 1-under-par in the first and second round at The Colorado National Golf Course. Jonsson (-6) is currently tied for first, but Gustav Sjoberg (-3) carded a 3-under-par 69 in the second round before settling in a tie for 15th place. Jacob Uyesato, who started his first round off shooting a 1-under-par and maintained even par through the second 18 holes. Jay Spivey shot a 9-over-par and Jonathan Parker shot 14-over-bar to day one.
San Francisco (-18) out-paced the rest of the 17-team field by 7 strokes, with Texas El Paso (-11) finishing at 4-under-par in round two. Nevada (-10) and Colorado State (-10) are each one stroke behind Texas El Paso at the end of round two.
Mercer will be back in action tomorrow, October 3, as they continue to battle in the final day of the Colorado Invitational.
