Scheck shot a 71 in her first round
WEST POINT, Miss. - Katie Scheck had a strong first round with a 1-under 71 to put herself in a tie for eighth place after day one at The Ally in West Point, Mississippi.
Scheck is four shots back of the leaders who are at 5-under par.Â
Scheck was bogey free on the front nine including one birdie to card a 35 on the front nine. She had three birdies on the day, one a par 3, par 4, and par 5.
As a team, Mercer is in seventh place in the 12 team field after the first round. The Bears shot 299 (+11) and are 18 shots back of current leader Indians who is at 7-under 281 after the first day.
Camilla Järvelä led the Bears with six birdies on the day. She finished her round with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 18th.
Mercer had 15 birdies as a team on Monday, tied for fourth most in the field.
Mercer begins the second round on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT.
