James, Wise Jr. Earn Another All-America Award

MACON – National postseason honors continued to trickle in for the 17^th-ranked Mercer football team on Tuesday afternoon when wide receiver Ty James and Lance Wise Jr. were both crowned first team all-Americans by the Associated Press.

It is the second-such honor in as many days for the duo who were both listed among the first team selections in Monday's release of the FCS Football Central All-America Team. Tuesday's announcement by the international news organization marked the first time in program history that a Mercer student-athlete has been included as part of the AP All-America Team.

The Bears were one of just five schools nationwide to boast multiple first-team selections in Tuesday's announcement. Defending national champion South Dakota State led all schools with four first-team honorees, while Albany, Holy Cross, Mercer and Monmouth were all represented by two student-athletes.

Mercer was one of just three Southern Conference schools represented on the first team. East Tennessee State and Furman both boasted one first team selection apiece.
