MACON – Six home games, including a season-opening Thursday night tilt at Five Star Stadium, as well as a mid-November road trip to take on defending Southeastern Conference champion Alabama, highlight the 12-game Mercer football schedule that was released on Tuesday morning by head coach Drew Cronic.
Â
The Bears will kick off their six-game home slate on August 29 when Presbyterian visits Macon for the first time in 83 years. That contest will mark the fifth Thursday night matchup in program history, but the first since MU opened the 2021 campaign with a 69-0 rout of Point.
Â
Mercer will play a pair of road games to kick off its September schedule, including a trip to Chattanooga on September 14 that will lift the lid on the Southern Conference portion of the regular season slate. The squad will return to the friendly confines of Five Star Stadium the following week (September 21) to face the The Citadel in its SoCon home opener.
Â
Ivy League rival Princeton will roll into Middle Georgia on October 12, and the Bears will close out the non-conference portion of their 2024 regular season schedule on November 16 when they trek to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to lock horns with Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Â
MU will close out the regular season on November 23 when it suits up to battle defending SoCon champion Furman at Five Star Stadium.
