Bears Cap All-American Season With Three More Honors

WACO, Texas – The Mercer football team raked in their 15^th, 16^th and 17^th all-American awards of the offseason on Wednesday morning when seniors Devron Harper, Ty James and Lance Wise Jr. were among 51 players nationwide named to the 2023 American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches' All-America Team.

James picked up his sixth first-team honor to officially etch his name into the record books as Mercer's first unanimous all-America selection, while Harper and Wise Jr. both earned a spot on the coaches' second team. Wise Jr. exited the postseason awards season as a consensus all-American. Wednesday's announcement also gave MU its first three FCS all-American award winners in program history.

Mercer was among five Southern Conference schools included in Wednesday's announcement, but the Bears led all 10 league schools with three selections to the team. Furman and Western Carolina both sent a pair of student-athletes to the listing.
