Josh Harlow Named SoCon Pitcher of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Josh Harlow was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against William & Mary on Friday, February 17. The selection was made by the league office.

The first Pitcher of the Week honor of Harlow's career comes after the sophomore earned a career-high 11 strikeouts in Mercer's win on Friday over William & Mary. Harlow also allowed just one hit, zero runs, and zero walks in six innings. Only three pitchers in the country recorded more strikeouts than Harlow on Opening Weekend.

One hit allowed ties a career-best set by Harlow in the Southern Conference Tournament against The Citadel last season. This was the second year in a row that Harlow posted double-digit strikeouts and zero runs on Opening Day for the Bears. Harlow has recorded only one other game allowing zero walks in his career (February 25, 2022 vs. SIUE).

The Garner, North Carolina, native was named to the Preseason All-SoCon Second Team and the Perfect Game Preseason All-Conference Team this year.

Mercer's next game is Tuesday, February 21 at 4 p.m. at Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Florida.
