
Bears Improve in Second Round At Clover Cup

After shooting 318 in first round, Bears shoot 296 in second round
MESA, Ariz. - The Mercer women's golf team finished the second round at the Notre Dame Clover Cup with a 296 (+8) at Longbow Golf Club on Saturday.
Mercer's round of 296 was a 22-shot improvement from the first round when the Bears had a round of 318. Mercer's 296 was tied for the seventh best round of the day in the 14 team field.
For the tournament Mercer is 38-over 614 going into the final round. The Bears are 13th in the team standings. In a field that consists of five teams who rank inside the top-50, No. 10 Texas A&M leads the field at 16-under 560. The Aggies own a 10-shot lead over second place New Mexico who is the only other team under par at 6-under.
Camilla Järvelä had the best round of the day for the Bears shooting a 72 (E) with five birdies. Her round jumped her up 21 spots on the player leaderboard into a tie for 44th, tied for the largest improvement on the leaderboard for any golfer on day two.
Kate Song also had a solid second round for the Bears with a 73 (+1), and had three birdies in her round.

The third round from Longbow Golf Club is scheduled to begin Sunday, March 12 at 10 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. MT. The Bears will be paired with Cincinnati in a shotgun start on holes 4, 5 and 6.
