Redshirt senior threw seven scoreless innings against Baylor
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Josh Farmer was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Baylor on Sunday, March 12 as Mercer completed the weekend sweep with a 6-3 victory. The selection was made by the league office.
Farmer threw 7.0 scoreless innings against the Big 12 opponent and only allowed four hits and one walk while striking out five batters. Seven innings pitched is a career high for Farmer. In the first inning on Sunday, Baylor's leadoff hitter, Colby Branch, was caught stealing thanks to great awareness by Farmer.
This is Farmer's second-career SoCon Pitcher of the Week honor. He earned his first in 2020 as a redshirt sophomore after throwing five innings without a hit against Georgia State.
The Bogart, Georgia, native currently ranks 46th in Division I among active players for career victories (13) and 56th for career pitching appearances (63).
Farmer is the second Mercer pitcher to earn the honor this season after Josh Harlow was named SoCon Pitcher of the Week on February 20.
Mercer's next game is on Tuesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. against Georgia State at OrthoGeorgia Park.
