Mercer Improves In Second Round At Florida State Match Up

All four Mercer golfers with lower scores in round two than round one

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Mercer women's golf team had the sixth best round of the day in round two at the Florida State Match Up.

The Bears finished the second round with a team score of 301 (+13), a 26-shot improvement from the first round. All four Mercer golfers had at least a three-shot improvement from Friday to Saturday.

Carol Pyon had the lowest round of the day for Mercer with a 74 (+2). She had three birdies in her round including two in a row on No. 16 and 17.

Through two rounds, Mercer leads the field on par 3's as the Bears are 6-over on par 3s for the tournament. Tracy Rodriguez is one of five golfers in the field who is under par on par 3s.

Camilla Järvelä and Kate Song have been among the best on par 5s as both are 2-under on par 5s for the tournament.

For the tournament, Mercer is at 52-over 628. The Bears are tied for 10th out of 12 teams in the team standings heading into round three. In a field that consists of three teams who rank inside the top-50, the hosts in No. 12 Florida State leads the field and is the only team under par at 4-under 572.
