MACON, Ga. – A home run derby highlighted by grand slams by Jozsef Rohrbacher and Eric Toth led the Mercer baseball program (23-13, 5-3) to a 13-2 victory over ETSU (15-17, 2-6) in seven innings on Saturday afternoon at OrthoGeorgia Park. With two wins on the weekend, Mercer takes the series against the Buccaneers.

The Bears hit five home runs in total, including two by Ty Dalley, to complement the pair of grand slams and a solo shot by Antonio Brown. On the mound, Josh Farmer (4-2) pitched a complete game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Mercer kept ETSU scoreless in the top of the first to take the lead in the opening offensive frame. A. Brown stepped up and hit a home run on the first pitch seen. This was his third of the season and second in three games.

The Bears doubled down on the home runs with another in the bottom of the second by Dalley. The freshman broke a four-way tie for the team lead in home runs with his ninth, also scoring Carter Geier who reached on a single.

Farmer and the Mercer defense retired the side in the second, third, and fourth innings. In the fifth, the Bears notched the 34^th double play of the season after Ryan McCarthy lined out to Geier who threw to Bradley Frye at second base to get the second out and close the inning.

The excitement began in the bottom of the fifth as pitcher Austin Emener loaded the bases with no outs. A pair of walks and a pair of singles scored another run for the Bears and kept the bases loaded when Rohrbacher stepped up to the plate. Rohrbacher launched one to right center on the first pitch of his at-bat for a grand slam.

To cap off a six-run inning, Dalley hit a solo shot to right center for his second home run of the day. He is the first Bear to reach double figure home runs this season.

The sixth inning delivered more excitement for Mercer after pitcher Andrew Ronne loaded the bases through a hit batter and two walks with no outs once again. Toth stepped into the batter's box and hit the second grand slam of the game to left field.

With the score at 13-0, ETSU needed to find four runs in the top of the seventh to avoid a run-rule finish. Garett Wallace hit a two-run home run, but a diving catch by Todaro and a ground out secured Farmer's complete game.

Seven of nine players in the batting order recorded a hit on Saturday. Toth, Rohrbacher, and Dalley led the team with two hits each. With five RBI, Toth led the way ahead of Rohrbacher with four and Dalley with three. The Bears only stranded three runners on base in seven innings.

Antonio Brown hit his third home run of the season and second in three games.
Ty Dalley hit his ninth and 10^th home runs of the season which leads the team.
Jozsef Rohrbacher hit his ninth home run of the season which is his third in four games and second this weekend.
Eric Toth hit his ninth home run of the season and first in two weeks.
