Song finished one shot back of second and five back of first

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Mercer women's golf team finished as runner-up and Kate Song took third place at the 2023 SoCon Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Tuesday.

Mercer finished with a team score of 913 (+49). SoCon champion Furman finished 19 strokes ahead of the bears at 894 (+30).

Kate Song finished in third place as she was 2-over 219 for the tournament. Song's second round 69 (-3) helped her jump seven spots up the leaderboard to put her in contention going into the final round on Tuesday.

Song finished one shot back of second place and five shots back of the individual champion from Furman in Anna Morgan who was 2-under 214 for the tournament.

Song was one of the best golfers for the tournament on the par 4's and 5's. Song and SoCon champion Anna Morgan were the only two players to play the par 5's under par. Song was 2-under and Morgan 4-under on the par 5's. Song was the third best golfer on the par 4's where she was 4-over for the tournament.

Mikayla Dubnik was the other Mercer golfer with a top 10 finish as she finished in a tie for sixth at 14-over 230. Dubnik was one of just five players who played the par 3's under par as she was 1-under on them for the tournament.
