
Four Players Named to Academic All-District Team

MACON, Ga. – Four Mercer baseball players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Eric Toth, Colton Cosper, Antonio Brown, Garrett Sloan earned the honor for their success on the field, in the classroom, and out in the community.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on the team.
Toth posts the second-best batting average on the team and is tied for fifth in the Southern Conference in home runs with 14. The Mobile, Alabama, native recorded two games with two home runs this season and also hit one grand slam. During the season, Toth logged a nine-game hitting streak and reached base in 17-straight games. The graduate student notched multiple single-game career highs this season with five RBI against ETSU and four runs scored against FAMU. Toth holds a 3.666 GPA while working towards an MBA.
Cosper emerged as a solid weekend starter, earning four wins on the mound in 15 appearances with nine starts. The Carrollton, Georgia, native posts a 5.95 ERA with 50 strikeouts on the season. Cosper was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 3 after striking out six batters in five scoreless innings against Western Carolina. He then recorded a career-high nine strikeouts against UNC Greensboro in the first nine-inning complete game for Mercer since 2018. Cosper holds a 3.534 GPA while majoring in marketing.
Brown is hitting .278 this season, including a .326 mark in conference play. He recorded three-straight weekends with a home run and hit a pair of two-run shots against Wofford on Saturday. The junior has logged seven multi-hit games, including a three-hit showing against UNC Greensboro. Brown holds a 3.835 GPA with a major in finance.
Sloan has made 17 appearances this season including his first career start against Georgia Southern. His best performance this season came against Florida A&M when the right-hander threw five scoreless innings against Florida A&M. The Albany, Georgia, native struck out a career-high five batters against Georgia State. Sloan holds a 3.583 GPA while majoring in sports marketing and analytics.
