Eric Toth Earns National and SoCon Player of the Week Honors

DH hit five home runs with six RBI and seven runs
MACON, Ga. – Eric Toth was named a Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week and the Southern Conference Player of the Week for his performance during the week of May 15-21. The Collegiate Baseball newspaper selects a handful of players who had breakout performances during the week. The SoCon award was selected by the league office.
The graduate student hit five home runs across four games with six RBI and seven runs. Toth is currently on a five-game home run streak, dating back to Sunday, May 14 against Wofford. On Tuesday, Toth contributed to back-to-back home runs in an inning for the Bears twice with solo shots in the second and fifth innings accompanied by homers by teammate Carter Sanford. This was Toth's third multi-home run game of the season.
On the week, Toth went 7-for-17 (.412) with at least one hit in each game. He slugged 1.353% this week as six of his seven hits were extra-base hits. Toth went 3-for-5 on Saturday with three runs and one RBI.
Toth is the third player to earn a national player of the week honor, joining Sanford and Jozsef Rohrbacher. This is the first SoCon weekly honor of Toth's career, the sixth of the season for Mercer, and the second consecutive selection for the Bears. Toth follows Jackson Cherry who earned it last week along with Sanford earlier this season. Josh Harlow, Josh Farmer, and Colton Cosper earned SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors.
Mercer begins play in the Southern Conference Baseball Championship presented by Holston Gases as the No. 2 seed on Friday, May 26 at 12:30 p.m. at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
