Mixon and Parker Named to Academic All-District Team

MACON, Ga. – Mercer men's golfers Trey Mixon and Jonathan Parker were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday. The Bears earned the honor for their success on the course, in the classroom, and out in the community.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on the team.
Mixon posted two top-five finishes this spring, earning third place at the AllState Streamsong Invitational and fifth place at the Classic City 1 Day. His best single round score was 65 which he recorded twice at the AllState Streamsong Invitational, logging a -15 overall score for the tournament. The Macon, Georgia, native finished tied for 26th at the Southern Conference Championships this spring. Mixon holds a 3.716 GPA while majoring in accounting.
Parker earned two top-15 finishes this season, finishing 11th at the Classic City 1 Day and 12th at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate. His season low was 69 which he posted at the AllState Streamsong Invitational en route to a -4 overall score, his best of the spring. Parker, from Columbus, Georgia, finished tied for 29th at the Southern Conference Championships. The senior graduated with a 3.928 GPA with majors in finance and statistics.
