
Dubnik and Pyon Named To Academic All-District Team

Accolade recognizes student-athletes who excel on and off the field
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's golfers Mikayla Dubnik and Carol Pyon were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
The honor is given to student-athletes nationwide who excel athletically and academically. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on the team while playing in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Dubnik recently finished tied for sixth in the inaugural postseason tournament called the National Golf Invitational from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. In the first round she shot a 4-under 68, her lowest round of the season. She had 12 birdies in the 54-hole tournament, tied for the most among all golfers in the field.Â

Dubnik finished in the top 20 in four of the five tournaments she participated in this spring. That included three consecutive top 10 finishes to close out the season. Dubnik had a 76.09 stroke average per round which was 20thbest among 54 SoCon golfers this season. Dubnik had a cumulative GPA of 3.710 and is majoring in finance.
Pyon won the Brickyard Collegiate at Brickyard Golf Club in Macon in April. She finished in the top 20 in four of the seven tournaments she participated in during the spring season. Pyon had a 75.72 stroke average per round which was 15th best among 54 SoCon golfers this season. After earning her bachelor's degree in marketing last year, Pyon earned her master's in business administration this spring and graduated with a 3.687 GPA.
