
Mercer Women’s Golf Signs Transfer Katie Scheck

Scheck joins the Bears after two years at Penn State
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's golf is excited to announce the addition of Katie Scheck. Scheck joins Mercer after two seasons at Penn State. She will join Mercer as an incoming junior with an intended major in communications.
Katie's parents are Kevin and Carolyn Scheck. Katie has a sister, Kelli, who plays collegiate golf at Butler University.
Scheck returns to her home state of Georgia. She grew up in Greensboro, Georgia and played her high school golf at Lake Oconee Academy where she was a four-year member of the women's golf team.
Scheck helped lead Lake Oconee Academy to three state championships in 2018, 2019 and 2021. She earned three individual low medalist honors during each of those seasons as well. Scheck played on the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association Junior/Senior All-Star Team and was named the 2021 Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year for Public 1A.

Some of Scheck's junior and amateur career accomplishments include four top-5 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour in 2018. She was named the Georgia PGA Junior Girls Player of the Year in 2018 and was the 2018 Georgia PGA UGA Junior Classic Champion. She was runner-up at the 94th Women's Western Junior in June 2021.

As a freshman at Penn State during the 2021-22 season, Scheck competed in seven events finishing fifth on the team with a 75.83 stroke average. She carded her lowest score to par of the season finishing 4-over, 220, and tied for 61stat the UCF Challenge.
