Mercer Unveils Ford Football Concert Series Lineup for Samford

Tailgating experience to feature live music performances this fall
MACON, Ga. – The 2023 Mercer Football Ford Concert Series Novemeber 11th performance by will be headlined by The Tams prior to the Bears' kicking off against Samford for Homecoming.
"We are excited to welcome back the 5th year of the Ford Concert Series. We look forward to another year of top-charting artists and a memorable gameday experience.," remarked Associate AD Daniel Tate. "The Ford Concert Series is a staple for Middle Georgia that provides entertainment for the whole family."  Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy live music from The Tams before kickoff at 4pm. , the designated tailgating area on Black Field, located adjacent to Five Star Stadium.

The Tams (November 11th vs Samford)Â
This "beach" music favorite from good old Atlanta, GA, are among the more popular up-tempo soul groups of the 60's. Their group being made up of vocalist Joesph Pope and he's joined by Charles Pope, Robert Smith, Floyd Ashton, and Horace Key. They began on Swan in 1960 and then landed their first hit "Untie Me" for Arlen in 1962, it peaked at number 12 on R&B charts and number 11 on Pop charts. Following that they moved to ABC-Paramount until 1968, while there in 1963 they scored their biggest hit "What Kind of Fool (Do You Think I Am)", but fans beg to differ and say their 1968 hit "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" is their ultimate hit. With being in the music world for so long and 234, 436 listeners and 15.688 followers, The Tams have given us some classics that have held their popularity for years. Â
