Lobus Signs Free Agent Deal With Texas Rangers

MACON, Ga. – Mercer junior pitcher Ryan Lobus has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Texas Rangers.

Lobus joins fellow teammate and pitcher Josh Harlow as members of the 2023 Mercer baseball team to be drafted or selected in free agency by an MLB team this week. Harlow was selected in the 19^th round by the Cleveland Guardians.

This season, Lobus appeared in 17 games, starting 11. He earned five wins and two saves. Lobus struck out 74 batters on the year which led the team and ranked fifth in the conference. He threw 63.1 innings, the third-most on the squad, allowing an opposing batting average of .272.

Lobus set a new career-high in strikeouts with nine against Bellarmine. He made two relief appearances late in the season against Wofford, earning a win in one appearance and a save in the other while striking out the side in two innings against the Terriers.
