Bears Hold Ground Among Nation’s Top 10

MACON – Mercer dipped one spot in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and did not give any ground in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) FCS Coaches Poll as the Bears maintained their status among the nation's top 10 teams on Monday morning.

The Bears (9-2, 6-1 SoCon) yielded just one spot in the Stats Perform Top 25, checking in at No. 8, while holding steady at No. 9 in the AFCA release. It is the fourth week this season that the Orange & Black has appeared in the top 10 of both listings.

Mercer is one of four Southern Conference squads that appeared in this week's national listing, joining league nemeses Chattanooga (6-5, 5-3), Western Carolina (6-5, 5-2) and East Tennessee State (6-5, 4-3) who garnered votes for consideration in the Stats Perform version of the national rankings.

The Mocs also received votes for consideration in the AFCA Top 25 as well.

Mercer will close out the regular season portion of its 2024 schedule on Saturday when they welcome Furman (3-7, 2-4) to Macon for a 3 p.m. tilt at Five Star Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by visiting MercerBears.com/Tickets.
