Cross Country Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

MACON – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2023 NCAA DI Cross Country All-Academic Teams and Athletes. Mercer's men's and women's cross country teams received team recognition, and junior Kamila Soja received an individual award.
Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and individuals must have a GPA of 3.25 or higher and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or be an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Mercer men's cross country posted a cumulative GPA of 3.512 following the fall 2023 semester. The women's squad hailed a 3.570. Kamila Soja, a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Major, holds a 3.400 GPA. She set numerous records on the cross country course this fall on her way to a 19th-place finish at the NCAA South Regional Championships, running 19:08.7 for 6k. This is the highest finish and first All-Region performance in program history. Soja is also the first individual selection from Mercer for the USTFCCCA All-Academic award.
NC State was named Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the third consecutive season after winning the team title at the 2023 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships. The team maintained a 3.510 GPA. On the men's side, Oklahoma State was named the Men's Scholar Team of the Year with a GPA of 3.164. The Cowboys took home their first national title since 2012.
