Mercer Gets Ahead Early In Victory Over Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -- Jackson Cherry opened the game with a home run to help propel the Mercer Bears (17-14, 2-4 SoCon) past the Florida A&M Rattlers (15-18, 10-2 SWAC) 11-4 on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jess Ackerman got the win out of the bullpen for Mercer. The southpaw went two innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Freshman Cade Cosper also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one. Caleb Bohn started on the mound, giving up one run and registering two strikeouts in three innings.

Ty Dalley had two doubles and an RBI to lead the Bears. Senior Carter Sanford compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Junior Jackson Cherry put together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a home run, a walk and two RBI.
