MACON – Mercer's Tobias Jonsson has been named SoCon Men's Golfer of the week following his exciting play at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta, Georgia
Jonsson put the finishing touches on his run through the event when the Swede carded a back-to-back 4-under-par 68's to finish the invitational in sole possession of first place in the 75-man field at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on the par-72, 7,086-yard Forest Hills Golf Club.
Jonsson (-9) was solid throughout the event in Augusta, tallying below-par scores in all three rounds. In Sunday's final round, he recorded one eagle, three birdies, and 13 pars on the way to finishing one-stroke above Oklahoma State's Bo Jin.
The Bears are back in action for the Southern Conference Championship at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia on April 21-23.
