
Mercer Finishes With Three Golfers In Top 20 At NGI

MARICOPA, Ariz. - The Mercer women's golf team placed three golfers in the top 20 at the National Golf Invitational from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
Mikayla Dubnik, Tracy Rodriguez, and Katie Scheck all finished the tournament tied for 20th at 10-over, 226. UNCW's Victoria Levy and Jacksonville State's Jinger Heath were finished tied for the lead after 54-holes at 3-under, 213.. Heath ended up winning the tournament on the first playoff hole.
As a team the Bears finished in sixth place in the 10-team field at 36-over, 900. Rutgers had the lowest round of the day on Sunday at 5-over par which pushed the Scarlet Knights to the top of the leaderboard as they won the tournament with a team score of 13-over, 877.
In the final round on Sunday, Dubnik carded her second consecutive round of even par, 72 which jumped her up 15 spots on the leaderboard for a top 20 finish. Dubnik had a run of three straight birdies and four birdies over her first five holes on the back nine to help move her up the leaderboard.
Camilla Järvelä and Katie Scheck each had one birdie in the tournament as Chattanooga was the only other team to have a golfer with an eagle throughout the tournament.
The National Golf Invitational concludes the 2024 spring season for the Bears.
