Jonsson Breaks Par In Second Round Of NCAA Chapel Hill Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Tobias Jonsson used a birdie on the par-5 17^th hole to complete the second round with a 1-under-par 69 on second-day action at the North Carolina-hosted NCAA Chapel Hill Regional on Tuesday. Jonsson will step into Wednesday's final round of the postseason event amid a six-way tie for 36^th place.

The Huddinge, Sweden, played the first 14 holes of the second round on Monday, draining a trio of birdie putts on the front 9 to fuel Tuesday's momentum. Jonsson bogeyed his initial hole – the par-3 15^th – on Tuesday, but finished with pars on the 16^th and 18^th holes, respectively, while also mixing in a four on the scorecard to highlight action on the 519-yard 17^th hole.

Jonsson (+2) is scheduled to tee off in the final round on Wednesday at 12:23 p.m. The top five teams from each of six regional tournaments, as well as the lowest individual competitor not on those qualifying teams, will advance to the NCAA Championship, May 24-29, in Carlsbad, Calif.
