
Mercer Scores 12 Unanswered To Defeat Kennesaw State

MACON -- The Mercer Bears (25-22, 5-9 SoCon) rallied from down 7-2 entering the seventh inning to take down the Kennesaw State Owls (25-21, 15-8 ASUN) 13-7 on Tuesday.
Junior Bryant Olson picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Mercer. The left-hander went two shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing four walks and striking out five. Junior Bryce Hawkins also made an impact on the mound for the Bears, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing one hit, with one walk and two strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Bears were paced by junior Parker Lester, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Sophomore Ty Dalley furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and three RBI. Junior Jackson Cherry also contributed for Mercer, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, two walks and two RBI.

The Owls scored four runs in the third inning and three in the sixth to take a 7-2 lead.Â
The Bears' bats heated up in the seventh inning, scoring seven runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Dalley. Mercer kept the Owls scoreless before their offense continued rolling the next inning. The Bears scored four runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of senior Max Kops, bringing the Mercer advantage to 13-7. Bryce Hawkins closed out the game on the mound allowing no runs and only one hit in the final frame.
