Bryant Olson Selected By Nationals In 2024 MLB Draft

MACON - Junior pitcher Bryant Olson was selected in the 13^th round of the 2024 MLB Draft (380^th overall pick) by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, becoming the 33^rd Bear to be selected in the MLB Draft under head coach Craig Gibson.

Olson, a native of Monroe, Ga., arrived in Macon for the 2024 season after two seasons at Gordon State. In his first year with the Bears, the lefty appeared in 23 games, recording eight saves - the most in the Southern Conference - along with 39 strikeouts in 26-2/3 innings of work.

Olson was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List in April and spent much of the season among the nation's leaders in saves.

Olson pitched 70.2 innings across 31 appearances in two seasons at Gordon State, while also racking up 97 strikeouts.

Olson's selection marks the third year in a row in which at least one Bear has been taken in the MLB Draft. He is the 49^th draft pick in program history.
