A Dozen Bears Land On Phil Steele’s Preseason All-SoCon Squads

CLEVELAND, Ohio – More preseason honors were on tap for the 25th-ranked Mercer football team on Friday when a dozen Bears, including a trio of first-teamers, were lauded with Preseason All-Southern Conference laurels by Phil Steele FCS.
All-American linebacker Ken Standley was joined on the first team by fellow senior Myles Redding at defensive back, as well as transfer punter John McConnell. Offensive linemen Riley Adcock and Xavier Jennings, as well as running back Dwayne McGee, landed a spot on the second team, as did linebacker Isaac Dowling and defensive linemen Brayden Manley and Jordan Swain.
Transfer wide receiver Kelin Parsons, linebacker Marques Thomas and kick return specialist Brayden Smith were all named to the third team All-SoCon list.
Friday's announcement marked the fourth-straight year that the Orange & Black has had at least 11 student-athletes named to Phil Steele's FCS Preseason All-Southern Conference teams. The Bears raked in 17 preseason all-conference accolades from the national publication prior to the 2023 campaign.
Reserved-seat season tickets for the 2024 home football schedule have already gone on sale and can be purchased for as little as $75 by visiting MercerBears.com/Tickets. MU has adjusted pricing in some sections of the stadium to accommodate a sixth game and assist our season ticket holders in purchasing premier seat locations.
