Riley Adcock Named To CSC Academic All-America Team

MACON – Mercer offensive lineman Riley Adcock put an emphatic cap on his illustrious collegiate career on Tuesday afternoon when the Dacula native earned a first team nod on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America squad.

The Academic All-America® program, selected by College Sports Communicators, is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes. All nominees must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above and be a starter or important reserve. The laurel is widely considered to be the most prestigious academic honor that can be bestowed upon a collegiate student-athlete.

Adcock is the 22nd student-athlete in the history to be named to the CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America squad, and the first MU student-athlete to log the prestigious crown since softball's Allie Jones, as well as baseball's Garett Delano and RJ Yeager, raked in the honor amid the 2020-21 athletic season. Adcock is also the first Mercer student-athlete to earn a spot on the first team since former football player Jack Raines boasted first team status in 2019-20.

A three-time All-Southern Conference selection, Adcock started the last 56 games of his collegiate career on the offensive front for the Bears – a streak that began during the spring portion of the 2020-21 schedule that was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. He earned an all-conference nod following each of his last three seasons in the Orange & Black, and allowed just one sack in nearly 2,800 career offensive snaps.

A three-time CSC Academic All-District selection as well, Adcock was one of two football players (Ken Standley) to log a spot on the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team earlier this month. He maintains a 3.87 cumulative grade point average as a graduate student in civil engineering at Mercer, and is expected to finish his graduate work at MU in May.
