
Women Achieve Best Finish In Program History At NCAA Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Mercer women's cross country team capped off their historical season with the best team finish in program history at the NCAA South Regional on Friday morning in Huntsville, coming in 14th place of 28 teams with the men placing 20th.

Freshman Mary Grace Parker posted another personal-best and finished first for the Bears with a time of 20:08.86 in the women's 6k coming in 27th place overall. Graduate students Emma James and Nikki Harris finished nearly side-by-side in 73rd and 84th place with times of 21:11.82 and 21:16.63, respectively. Kamryn Wingfield also posted a personal-best at the 22:01.08 mark.
Yianni Pothoulakis crossed the finish line first for the Bears in the men's 10k with a time of 31:54.48, good for 90th overall. Buck Ledford followed closely behind in 95th place at the 32:16.13 mark and Jonathan Greene placed 111th overall with a time of 32:30.61.

Alabama and Ole Miss placed first and second for the men with Florida and Tennessee placing in the top two teams for the women, claiming the automatic qualifier spots in the NCAA Championship.
