Mikayla Dubnik and Eujin Pyon each finished tied for sixth
MACON, Ga. – A strong finish to Tuesday's round proved key in Mercer's Brickyard Collegiate championship from Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, Georgia.
An eagle on the last hole from Emilia Väistö and birdie on the second to last hole from Mikayla Dubnik were important results for Mercer who ended up winning the 36-hole tournament by two strokes over runner-up Xavier. Mercer finished the tournament at 26-over, 602 and the Musketeers finished at 28-over, 604.
"We grinded it out until the very last putt to come out with the win," said Mercer head coach Michele Drinkard. "This is the grittiest team I've had the pleasure of coaching. It was another tough day out there with the conditions and rain we had from yesterday. I'm proud of the way we finished and we've got to take this momentum into the SoCon Tournament next week."

Xavier made a furious charge up the leaderboard on Tuesday. The Musketeers entered the round, 11 shots back of the Bears, but Xavier put together a good round and even took a few shot lead over Mercer with just a few holes to play. However, a strong finish across the board from the Bears helped Mercer retake the lead and hold on for the two-shot win.
Mikayla Dubnik and Eujin Pyon each finished tied for sixth in the 63-player field at 6-over, 150. They each finished the 36-hole tournament with five birdies which was tied for fourth most in the field. Emilia Väistö had the second most birdies in the field with six and was the only player to have an eagle as she had two, including a hole-in-one on the par 3, fifth in her first round on Sunday.
Mercer and Xavier were neck-and-neck in total birdies as Xavier led the field with 23 and Mercer was right behind with 22.
Next up for the Bears is the SoCon Tournament, April 14-16 from Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
