Scheck finished 1-over for tournament and one-shot back of winner

MARICOPA, Ariz. – Katie Scheck finished as runner-up at 1-over, 217 at the National Golf Invitational (NGI) from Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.

It is Scheck's best finish of the season as she finished one shot back of champion Angelica Holman of Eastern Michigan who finished at even par for the tournament. Scheck carded a final round of 1-under, 71 on Sunday with just one bogey on her scorecard.

As a team Mercer finished in ninth place in the 10-team field at 49-over, 913. Santa Clara won the tournament at 22-over, 886. Mercer was by a good margin the best team on the par 3's throughout the tournament. The Bears played them at 7-over par, with the next best teams being UNCG and Oral Roberts at 13-over par on the par 3's.

Scheck took advantage of the par 5's as she went 5-under par on them which was tied for the third best score in the field on par 5's.

Mikayla Dubnik earned a top 10 finish at tied for ninth with final score of 5-over, 221. The tournament wraps up the 2024-25 season for the Bears.
