Kersey Named Southern Conference Player Of The Week For Second Time This Season

MACON – The Southern Conference named Braydon Kersey the SoCon Player of the Week for the second time this season after the sophomore two-way star dominated both in the batter's box and on the pitcher's mound, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

The sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia, hit .533 (8-for-15) with two doubles, a home run, six runs batted in, four walks drawn (two intentional), a hit-by-pitch and five runs scored. Kersey made one pitching appearance and threw 1.2 innings of shutout baseball. "The Fireman" earned his fifth save of the season by striking out two hitters and limiting East Tennessee State to just one hit.

Kersey began the week 2-for-3 with two RBI, two intentional walks and his 21st home run of the season to lead the Bears to a 12-9 upset win over No. 3 Georgia Tech. Over the weekend, Kersey went 6-for-12 with two doubles, four RBI and two walks and made his sole pitching appearance against ETSU.
