Three Bears Named To All-Tournament Team

MACON – Garrett Lambert, Brant Baughcum and the Southern Conference Player of the Year, Chris Katz, were named to the SoCon's All-Tournament Team as some of the league's top performers in Greenville, South Carolina, the conference announced last night.

Lambert, a redshirt freshman from Lilburn, Georgia, started the first game for Mercer and tossed 5.2 dominant innings against The Citadel. Lambert struck out a career-high 10 batters and held the Bulldogs to just one run off five hits.

Katz, a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina, led the Bears' offense in all three games. Katz went 6-for-9 (0.667) with three home runs, three runs batted in, a double, three walks and six runs scored. Katz delivered a go-ahead, inside-the-park home run in Mercer's win over No. 4 Wofford.

Baughcum, a senior from Buford, Georgia, posted a .500 batting average (6-for-12) with two RBI, a double and two runs scored across the Bears' three games. Baughcum recorded multi-hit games in both of Mercer's contests against The Citadel including a 3-for-4 outing with an RBI and a run scored in the Bears' loss on Friday.
