Trodd Secures Top Ten Finish, Bears Tied For Sixth At National Golf Invitational

MARICOPA, Ariz. – Nathan Trodd sank five birdie putts to finish tied for ninth place as the Mercer men's golf team finished tied for sixth at the National Golf Invitational at Ak-Chin Sand Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona on Sunday.
Trodd ended the three-day event as the Bears' leading scorer at eight under par with three consecutive rounds in the red. The senior from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, made the third-most birdie putts (17) of 50 individuals.
Henry Robards was Mercer's second-best scorer at six under. The sophomore from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, finished tied for 18th individually after shooting even par in the final round.
As a unit, the Bears led he field with 176 total pars. Mercer had the fourth-best stroke average on all Par 3s, sixth-best on Par 4s and seventh on Par 5s. The Bears finished with the eighth-most birdies.
