MACON – Garrett Lambert became the 10th Bear under head coach Craig Gibson to be recognized as an All-American after the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named him to the 2026 NCBWA Freshman All-America Second Team, the organization announced on Monday afternoon.
The redshirt freshman made his return to the diamond after suffering a season-ending injury early in the 2024 season that kept Mercer's ace sidelined until the beginning of this year. Lambert led the Bears every Friday night and ended the season as the Southern Conference's Freshman of the Year and a member of the All-SoCon First Team and All-Tournament Team.
A native of Lilburn, Georgia, Lambert made 15 appearances and posted a 4.31 ERA in his first full season of college baseball. The product of Parkview High School led the Bears with 90 strikeouts and was second on the squad with 71.0 innings pitched. Lambert struck out a career-best 10 batters in Mercer's opening game of the SoCon tournament against The Citadel.
