Women's Golf Welcomes Kelli Scheck As Assistant Coach

MACON, Ga. – Mercer head women's golf coach Michele Drinkard has announced the addition of former Butler women's golfer Kelli Scheck to the Bears' coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Scheck joins Mercer following a four-year collegiate career at Butler University, where she established herself as one of the Bulldogs' top performers while competing in the BIG EAST Conference.
"We are very excited to have Kelli join our program," Drinkard said. "What impresses me the most about Kelli is how intuitive she is and how deeply she cares for others. She is a natural coach and will have a positive impact on our players."
A native of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Scheck played in 118 rounds during her Butler career. Her junior year Scheck claimed the individual title at the Butler Fall Invitational in an epic 3-hole playoff to claim the win. Her freshman year, she tied the programs lowest round relative to par with a four-under par 67. Scheck also earned BIG EAST Golfer of the week three times during her career at Butler.
Scheck graduated Cum Laude from Butler in May 2026 with a degree in Organizational Communication and Leadership. She was a three-time WGCA All-American Scholar and named to the prestigious College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team three times.
During her time at Butler University, Scheck was committed to serving the community and fostering a culture of volunteerism within the women's golf program. She organized volunteer opportunities for her teammates at the Ronald McDonald House, where the team prepared and served meals for families staying at the house. In addition, for two years, Scheck coordinated her team's participation in the Riley Red Wagon Fundraiser, supporting Riley Hospital for Children in Indiana.
Before arriving at Butler, Scheck was a standout prep golfer at Lake Oconee Academy in Greensboro, Georgia. She helped lead her team to multiple GHSA state championships and won the 2022 individual state championship. She was also a three-time first-team All-State selection by the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association and was named the organization's 2022 Player of the Year.

"Her leadership and passion for developing scholar-athletes make this an incredible opportunity, and I'm looking forward to learning from her while helping our players grow both on and off the course. Scheck is the daughter of Kevin and Carolyn Scheck. Her sister Katie also played for the Bears and graduated Mercer University as a double bear with her master's degree.
