MERCER SPIRIT SQUAD
Our spirit program consists of the Mercer Cheerleaders, Mercer Dance Team, and of course our mascots Toby and Tot. The squads are selected each spring to serve for the following academic year.
The purpose of the Mercer Spirit Squads is to support the athletic teams at Mercer University by generating crowd enthusiasm, promoting school spirit, and supporting Mercer’s Student-Athletes throughout the year. You can find the Mercer University Spirit Squad members at all home football games, as well as all men's and women's home basketball games, and other select athletic events. Spirit Squad members can also be found participating in a number of special appearances and events throughout the Macon community!
Spirit Squad members must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Freshman and transfer applicants must be accepted into Mercer University prior to tryouts. Members must be considered full time students for both the fall and spring semester in order to be eligible to participate.
Why it's great to be a Mercer Spirit Squad member:
• The Mercer Spirit Squad is under Mercer Athletics
• Cheering/Dancing/Mascot for a Southern Conference School
• Scholarships are available
• Chance to be part of a competitive team
• Opportunity for regular season and post season travel for both football and basketball
For more information regarding the Mercer Spirit Squad Program please contact Head Cheerleading Coach Penny Pitts at pitts_pl@mercer.edu.
