An accomplished scholar with more than 19 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration, John Peach begins his 11th year in the Mercer athletics department in 2026-27 as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance. He joined the department prior to the 2016-17 athletics season as an assistant athletics director.
Peach’s duties at Mercer include, but are not limited to, oversight of the compliance efforts for all 18 varsity athletic programs, as well as acting as a liaison between the athletics department and the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid and Registrar. He serves as the sport administrator for Mercer's cross country, beach volleyball and track & field programs.
A native of Jasper, Fla., Peach ventured to Middle Georgia from Nashville, Tenn., where he served a variety of roles in Vanderbilt’s Compliance Office from 2007-16. While in the Music City, he co-chaired the Eligibility Oversight Committee, while also undertaking an important role as a liaison to Vanderbilt’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, as well as with the Athletic Business Office, Registrar’s Office and Academic Support staff.
Prior to his time at Vanderbilt, Peach influenced young minds as an educator at various levels of academia, including two years as a social studies instructor at Madison County High School in Madison, Florida. He undertook an instructor role as a graduate assistant while pursuing his first master’s degree at Valdosta State during the 2004-05 academic year, and then moved to the prep ranks in 2005-06 as a physical education instructor at Clarke Central High School in Athens.
Peach has earned several educational certificates across his career, including an associate of arts degree from North Florida Community College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education with a minor in history from Georgia in 2000, but has since gone on to earn four graduate degrees as well.
He completed his graduate work in education from Valdosta State in 2005, wrapped up a master’s degree in sport administration at Belmont in 2007 and has earned two graduate degrees from Mercer – a master’s degree in higher education leadership in 2020 and, most recently (2026), a master of business administration (MBA) with a concentration in managing people and change. He also completed a graduate certificate in Native American Studies from Montana State in 2024. He is also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
Peach currently resides in Juliette, Ga., where he has served as both the president and vice president of the Juliette River Club – an organization focused on community service, local preservation and social gatherings for residents.
