On coaching:
"I would definitely say that I'm a player's coach. Having beenthrough what my players have, in college, amateur, and professionalgolf, I have a very good idea of what they are feeling when theyare out there competing and just the daily grind of practice. Iknow how difficult this game is and how much work it takes to besuccessful at any level. Fairness is a big thing to me and I'd liketo think that I coach all of my players equally. I push them, butit's all a matter of pushing the right buttons at the right timesand knowing when to back off. It's always a work in progress."
On scheduling:
"Scheduling without a doubt is one of my favorite parts about thisjob. We strive to play in the best events on the best coursesagainst the best players, period. We want to compete against thetop teams in the country at amazing venues. No one likes going tobad courses and I think we've done a great job at picking the rightevents that suit the kind of team we have, but at the same timeallowing our players to mature by playing different coursesgeographically. I like to test our guys by giving them differentlooks at unique courses-I think it helps them grow as players."
On recruiting:
"It's hard to pinpoint what we are looking for in a player, butthere are several prerequisites for our program. We have always hadoutstanding young men who are easy to get along with and have theability to flourish in Mercer's academic environment. Mercer is ademanding school and I feel if they can handle that, they canhandle to workload placed upon them on the golf course. Short gameis also an important aspect as well as the experience of playingagainst top players and having some success. I look for a guy thatdreams big and is looking for a path to get to the next level."
On the Brickyard:
"The Brickyard at Riverside is a fantastic golf experience. It'sgolf in its purest form. When you set foot on the property, thereare no sounds, just the golf course in front of you. It's almostlike you're in your own little world. To be able to host an elitecollege event there is an added bonus and we are so grateful thatwe have this relationship with the club. It's a superb test, wonderful practice facilities, and it's helped us a lot in ourrecruiting the last two years."
