TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Amiee Frutchey had her third double-double of the year with season-highs in kills (22) and digs (27) as Mercer fell to Florida A&M 3-2 (10-25, 25-15, 25-20, 26-28, 15-9) on Wednesday night at the Al Lawson Center.
Mercer fell to 6-15 on the season while FAMU moved to 4-11 on the year.
"Amiee was impressive tonight and really stepped up," Mercer head coach Noelle Rooke said. "We were right there statistically in every set but couldn't come away with the win."
Frutchey's 22 kills was a match-high and came in conjunction only four errors on 43 attempts.
Junior Madeline Dolny finished one dig short of a double-double, racking up a career-high 52 assists in the loss. Senior Anna Coursey booked 11 kills and five block assists on Wednesday.
After splitting the first four sets, the scoreboard reflected a 5-5 tie in the fifth set before FAMU scored six-straight times. Ultimately, the Rattlers claimed a 15-9 victory behind a .500 hitting percentage in the fifth set.
Frutchey was a perfect five-for-five in attacking attempts in the final frame.
Mercer returns to action Thursday night in its second-straight non-conference match at Savannah State.
